A Kentucky family who, like so many families of the time, suffers terrible ordeals resulting from the Civil War. Their story is told from inside a 1963 Lincoln convertible, sitting on a car lot overlooking the famous Gettysburg battlefield. The story teller is Maggie Sheppard, who works with the Gettysburg Museum Curator's Office. She sits on the passenger side of the car, looking out over the rolling landscape of the battlefield. Her audience is photo journalist Harry Spears from National Magazine. He accompanies her in the drivers seat. Maggie tells Harry the story of Kentucky's O'Sullivan family and the many events that brought Jacob, Miles and Sarah O'Sullivan to the mysterious "Grey Morning Pass" outside of Gettysburg Pennsylvania over one hundred years earlier. Their fateful journey ends on July 5th 1863...the fourth day and terrible aftermath resulting from the famous battle of Gettysburg.
